Project

The Eden Valley has been working with Hidden Britain to develop and run the Eden Valley Tourism Initiative project.
Hidden Britain is a project funded by
DEFRA and
SEEDA under the Rural Enterprise Scheme; it is
supported by Tourism SE and the
South East Rural Community Councils.
The project aims to aid community development and regeneration in rural communities by working to ensure a better return to the communities from tourism. Edenbridge and the Eden Valley has become one of the 10 areas working with Hidden Britain across the South East.

The Eden Valley Tourism Initiative will support the development of a rural tourism infrastructure within the Eden Valley.
The project will map the existing capacity, activities and partnerships in the area, work to develop wider collaboration, and implement innovative approaches to increase economic benefit derived from tourism to the area.
Funding for the project has been achieved through DEFRA and the Rural Enterprise Scheme.
The project is being managed on a local level by a partnership which includes: Edenbridge Town Council, Sevenoaks District Council, Heart of Kent, local businesses and local volunteers.
|
The Project has addressed the issues of research, promotion, information and interpretation, which provide a base tourism package that can be expanded and built on in the future. Examples of the work undertaken are:
- Visitor Survey, SWOT analysis and Tourism Audit.
- Establishment of an Eden Valley Tourism Forum.
- Development of a brand and identity for the area.
- Creation of an area website to market to potential visitors.
- Production of maps and guides to accompany the website.
- Production of a series of walks guides for the area, and beermats!
