Short Walks
The Eden Valley is just as good for short walks and gentle strolls as it is for long-distance walking. With many miles of footpaths, there is something for walkers of all abilities. This section includes walks up to 6 miles (2½ 4 hrs depending on your speed) look below to find a walk that suits you.
Wear comfortable sturdy footwear, don't rush, enjoy a safe and pleasant walk, and always follow the Country Code (Click here for more information).
Where possible, local pubs and shops have been highlighted. Why not time your walk to have a quick drink beforehand or a meal afterwards?

Eden Valley Walk 1: Marsh Green Clatfields Marsh Green
This walk begins by the green in the village of Marsh Green. Cars may be parked beside the green and the walk takes you through undulating fields and past the house in which John Osborne lived. Its start and finish is near the Wheatsheaf Inn, which serves home-cooked food and has a garden.

Eden Valley Walk 2: Mowshurst Skinners Farm Mowshurst
This walk begins in a car park beside playing fields at Mowshurst in the north of the town, and goes past ponds and through undulating farmland. It provides the opportunity to visit the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul in Edenbridge.

Eden Valley Walk 3: Mont St Aignan Way Marsh Green Mill Hill
Starting in the centre of Edenbridge with its shops, pubs, a variety of places in which to eat, historic buildings (including the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul and the Eden Valley Museum) and the convenient Edenbridge Town station, this walk follows the attractive River Eden. It goes past Devils Den and out to the village of Marsh Green, with its pub, before returning to the town centre.

Eden Valley Walk 4: Parish Church Delaware Parish Church
The lych gate of the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul provides the starting point for this walk. There is free parking available by the Church and it is close to the town centre with its shops, pubs, a variety of places in which to eat, historic buildings (including the Eden Valley Museum) and the convenient Edenbridge Town station.

Eden Valley Walk 5: Marlpit Hill Broxham Marlpit Hill
Starting in Swan Lane in the north of the town, near Edenbridge station and the Swan pub, this walk crosses farmland, goes through a deer park and passes a restored moat, once part of a Saxon manor.

Walks in Kent Marsh Green
This is a short walk in the village of Marsh Green, not far from Edenbridge. The route follows well-used bridleways and there are some good views of the surrounding countryside.

A short and easy country walk Penshurst
A short walk starting from Penshurst Place, following footpaths and bridleways, through some of the Eden Valleys best countryside. Wildlife that can be seen includes deer (especially late afternoon near woodland), pheasant, rabbits, fox and badger sets.

Chiddingstone to Hever
A short circular walk via little roads and paths, through fields and woods, to Hever Castle and back. Starting from the historic village of Chiddingstone, the route goes through the grounds of Hever Castle and back to Chiddingstone via Hill Hoath.

Chiddingstone to Penshurst
A circular walk connecting two of the most historic and interesting villages of the Eden Valley. Starting from Chiddingstone, the route goes through fields and woodland, with excellent views and some well hidden historical buildings.

Chiddingstone to Bough Beech Reservoir
A short circular walk that takes you north from the historic village of Chiddingstone, across the River Eden and up to the reservoir at Bough Beech. The return brings you back across fields with lovely views of the countryside.

Edenbridge Town Trail
This interesting walk through Edenbridge High Street is marked by small blue wall plaques which highlight a large number of historic buildings, many timbered and tile-hung, including medieval and Georgian properties.
